What is MIST Toronto?
Wow. Seems like someone forgot to check out the About section.

I’d love to help out! But I graduated from high school. Blast! How can I still help out?
The main thing right now is to spread the word especially if you have younger relatives or family friends still in high school. If you want to help out your high school get a team or to motivate them throughout the tournament you can sign-up to become a coach.

Or if you just want to help out generally with the MIST Toronto team, you can fill out a volunteer form here.

Uhhh, my school hardly has any Muslims in it. Can I still make a team?
Of course! Your team can be as small as one person or completely stacked (have representatives in each competition). Awards will be both individual based as well team-based so you still have a shot even if you are the sole person on your team.

Can I be in more than one competition?
Yes, as long as the competitions are in different categories. So for example, if you want to do essay writing (Writing & Oratory) you can also do 3D Art (Arts). But you cannot do photography (Arts) and 3D Art (Arts) because both of those are in the same category. So even if you have a small team, you can manage it in a way to maximize the amount of competitions you’re in. One person can participate in up to five competitions (one for each category).

Can I have non-Muslims on my team?
Yes. MIST Toronto accommodates everyone. It’s a nice way for non-Muslims to interact with the Muslim community and such.

Can I have a non-Muslim coach?
Yes. See above.

I just want to play Basketball and not to do any of that competition stuff.
Nah, the basketball part of MIST is just for fun. If you sign-up for basketball you must also be part of another competition of your choice. Failure to participate in another competition will get your basketball team disqualified. The competition stuff is fun as well!

Can I join with other schools or have people from different schools join my team and make a MONSTER team?

No. That’d get unfair. We don’t want monsters. Members can only be from within the same school. If a team is found with members from a different school (and believe us, we will know and we will check) then the entire team will be disqualified and ineligible for awards.

Uh, I don’t get how registration works. Do I mail-in any papers and cheques or whatever?
Nah, not ths year. This year, the ONLY paper you submit is the signature page. You don’t necessarily have to mail that in. You can meet your regional coordinator at a nearby collection to hand in the signature page.

So, if there is no paper… how do I get signed up?
Everything must sign-up here at the online registration site. EVERYONE. You select your school from the drop-down and put in the school code. If you don’t see your school on here then please e-mail us (info [at] misttoronto [dot] ca).

School code? What’s that?
If you don’t know your school code then you must ask your registration ambassador. If you’re a registration ambassador and you don’t know what the code is then email me (info [at] misttoronto [dot] ca).
Once the registration ambassador knows the code he/she can give the code to the rest of her team so they can be associated with their school.

Can I change my competitions around before the deadline? Or when I payed?
Yes to both. But not before coach approved. Once coach approves the team is final. Coach must approve the team to make the entire thing final. Keep in mind if you change stuff after early deadline, you’ll get penalized with late fees.
